More big waves expected to pound California coast, high surf warnings in effect until 2 p.m.

Powerful waves were again expected to thrash the Northern California coastline Saturday, with high surf and coastal flood warnings in effect until at least 2 p.m.Santa Cruz County beaches were forecast to see the biggest waves — potentially as high as 40 feet at some spots — though the swell was not expected to be as intense as the storm surge that slammed the area earlier this week, damaging some oceanfront businesses.The National Weather Service advised people to stay away from beaches during the warnings, which cover the entire Bay Area, Santa Cruz County and Monterey coastlines. West-facing beaches were expected to be the hardest hit.“These larger waves can come out of nowhere and be a lot bigger than you think they are,” said weather service meteorologist,” Dalton Behringer.The swell was forecast to gradually increase through the morning before tapering off in the afternoon. (KRON) – The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory and a coastal flood warning for Saturday until 2 p.m.The NWS forecasts a very high swell from the west and northwest that will create hazardous beach conditions. Bay Area Storm: Live Updates Beach waves are expected to be 26-20 feet on west-facing beaches on Central and Northern California coastline. Coastal flooding is a result of the high waves.  The NWS emphasizes the severity of high beach waves, calling the waves "deadly." For your safety, stay off of jetties, stay out of and away from the water, never turn your back on the ocean, and keep pets on a leash and away from the water.

Maritime National Historical Park changes open hours

(BCN) -- Beginning Jan. 2, 2024, the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park will be open at a different time for visitors, its officials said Thursday.According to the park's officials, Hyde Street Pier will be open on Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. due to ongoing vessel maintenance and extreme tide events. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis Colts tight end Drew Ogletree was arrested Friday on domestic violence charges after he allegedly “body slammed” a female victim earlier in the week, according to court records.The 25-year-old Ogletree was charged with domestic battery committed in the physical presence of a child less than 16 years old and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, according to Indiana state court records. Suspect arrested in Worcester stabbing

A man is facing an armed assault to murder charge in connection with a stabbing in Worcester late Friday night that left a person hospitalized with serious injuries, officials said.Officers responding to a reported stabbing in the area of 765 Main St. around 9:45 p.m. found a 43-year-old man suffering from stab wounds, according to Worcester police. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance.During a follow-up investigation, police identified a man and woman who may have been involved and distributed their picture across the department.An officer working a detail in the area of Austin and Irving street saw two people who matched the description and took the male into custody, according to police. A pat frisk allegedly revealed a knife with dried blood on it and other evidence linking him to the stabbing.
