Police make arrest after stabbing inside Star Market in Mattapan

One person was taken to an area hospital and one person was arrested after a stabbing inside a Star Market store on River Street in Mattapan Tuesday, police said. Boston police said a call came in shortly after 3:30 p.m. reporting the incident. The victim, police said, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Photos given to 7NEWS by one shopper showed police surrounding the deli counter inside the Star Market Tuesday afternoon. Another shopper said police told her the stabbing involved employees. “I’ve never seen anything like that before here,” the shopper said. “I mean, it’s usually just a very quiet place.”Police cleared the scene shortly before 5:15 p.m. Before they did so, though, officers were seen bringing a man out of the store with his hands behind his back. Patient information may have been stolen during a ransomware incident that hit Harvard Pilgrim earlier this year, the healthcare company said this week. Point32Health, which serves as the parent company for Harvard Pilgrim, said it learned about the incident on April 17 and took systems offline while working to identify the cybersecurity problem. Just over a month later, Harvard Pilgrim said an investigation into the breach showed signs that data was copied and taken from Harvard Pilgrim systems between March 28 and April 17. “We determined that the files at issue may contain the following types of personal information and/or protected health information: names, physical addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, health insurance account information, Social Security numbers, provider taxpayer identification numbers, and clinical information,” the company said.Harvard Pilgrim said the breach could impact current or former subscribers and dependents, as well as co...

Man arrested, accused of waving machetes in Boston

A man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly waved two machetes around in Boston’s Downtown Crossing area, police said. The incident happened Tuesday night near the intersection of Winter and Tremont Street. Police were later seen handling what appeared to be one of the machetes near the scene shortly before 9 p.m.There was no word as of around 9:30 p.m. on what charges the man arrested in this incident might face.
